A lot of these comments about radios that sell for too much do seem to be based in envy. Speaking of which in a free society everyone has their right to their opinion, they are entitled to spend their after tax on worthless junk and I am entitled to call them a fool for doing so. I could care less whether it is Un American or not, as I am not an American, it still hits a level of foolishness with money that I will never understand, but then again there has been a lot of that in recent years. We aren't talking about a top of the line Akai real to tape deck or McIntosh amplifiers or even novelty radios, we are talking about mass market, characterless, imported junk that was sold in Woolco or Kmart by the tens of millions. What is there to long for in a Japanese, Taiwanese, or Hong Kong clock radio that sold for $9.95 or less when it was brand new, were they really that deprived? Did they grow up in a bubble? I call them shut ins because they obviously have never seen the avalanche of those things piled up in every thrift store, flea market, estate and garage sale where they remain the last thing on the shelf. some radio people have for people who spend their money on radios/things that they themselves find for whatever reason of no importance. The so called "shut ins" are almost always just regular folks who grew up in an era where they now can buy the "stuff" they liked when they were growing up.I do not belittle anyone for spending their is what sets apart the American way of life apart from any other. In closing I submit that the people that whine about other people spending their own money are really the ones that need to be pitied. An American would understand that to envy the people of means.is a waste of time.and unAmerican.
